The demo version of MPEG-2 in MainConcept Reference is fully functional. It only adds a watermark to the video during playback. To turn MainConcept MPEG-2 into a full version, it is required that the MainConcept Reference base application is installed on your system (not included). Once the order process has been completed, you get an e-mail containing your personal serial number and some information about how to unlock MainConcept MPEG-2. While ordering the product you have the opportunity to additionally choose the option ?CD on demand?. This is a backup CD which we can send you for a small charge for production and mail order. Furthermore, you are authorised to obtain all following updates of MainConcept MPEG-2 within version 1.xx free of charge. You only have to download the current version and unlock it with your personal serial number.

How to install a MainConcept Reference codec plug-in update?

  1. For users of MainConcept Reference 1.6.0 and earlier: Uninstall the currently installed MainConcept full version codec plug-in(s) from your system (Windows) or move the Reference application to trash (MacOSX).
  2. Under Windows, uninstall the currently installed MainConcept Reference base application from your system.
  3. Download the latest MainConcept Reference base application at and install it.
  4. Run MainConcept Reference and go to Help Register. In the Register dialog, please enter your personal serial number for the licensed Codec Plug-In (e.g. MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, VC-1 Pro etc.), in order to unlock it.

    If you have already licensed one or more of the MainConcept codec plug-ins, the corresponding update is for free.
  5. Start enjoying the latest version of MainConcept Reference!
